Dr. Chris Borgman is very excited to join Associated Ophthalmologists, PC. Dr. Borgman earned his Doctorate of Optometry degree from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois graduating with cum laude honors. While earning his Doctorate of Optometry degree, he became a member of the Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Fraternity and a member of the Tomb and Key Honor Fraternity, both requiring high scholarly achievements. He also earned the Richard J. O'Brien Memorial Award which is awarded to the student who most exemplifies and represents the clinical and scholarly characteristics of a post-graduate residency applicant. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa graduating with magna cum laude honors while majoring in biology and minoring in chemistry, Upon graduating from the Illinois College of Optometry, Dr. Borgman continued his optometric training in a competitive post-graduate primary care/ocular disease residency program at the Illinois Eye Institute in Chicago, Illinois where he both diagnosed and managed severe ocular disease as well as taught third and fourth year optometry students in various clinical settings.
Dr. Borgman is a member of the Iowa Optometric Association, American Optometric Association, and the American Academy of Optometry. His practice emphasis includes primary eye care and the diagnosis and management of ocular diseases including dry eye, glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic eye exams. He also enjoys simple and advanced contact lens fittings, low vision rehabilitation, and sports vision.
Dr. Borgman is a native of Fulton, Illinois in northwestern Illinois. He and his wife, Becky, live in Pleasant Hill and are the proud owners of a labrador retriever named Samson. In his spare time, he loves to stay active via long distance running, slowpitch softball, basketball, golf, hunting, and fishing.
