Dr. Michael Versackas M.D. FACS

Dr. Michael VersackasDr. Michael Versackas was born in Ottumwa.  Although he spent most of his time living in Des Moines, he did attend high school at Columbus High School in Waterloo.  He received a BA degree with highest distinction in Economics and General Science from the University of Iowa in 1969. He was also awarded Phi Beta Kappa in 1969.  Dr. Versackas graduated from the University of Iowa College of Medicine in 1973.

Following his medical degree, he did a rotating internship at Los Angeles County Harbor General Hospital in Torrence, California.  He then did his Ophthalmology Residency at Barnes Hospital at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.  Dr. Versackas is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology.  He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  He has practiced Ophthalmology in Des Moines since 1977, entirely at Associated Ophthalmologists, PC.

Dr. Versackas and his wife, Diane, live in West Des Moines.  They have three grown children and two lovely grandchildren.

Dr. Ejaz Husain M.D. FACS

Dr. Ejaz HusainDr. S. Ejaz Husain graduated Magna Cum Laude from the prestigious Ivy League Brown University in 1986. In 1990, he received Doctorate in Medicine with honors from Brown University School of Medicine.  He completed his Ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas where he also completed a two-year surgical fellowship program in Cornea, Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Husain was then invited to stay on as faculty at Baylor College of Medicine where he taught Anterior Segment and Refractive Surgery.

Dr. Husain has been involved in laser vision correction since 1994. He has authored over twenty research articles and educational chapters in peer-reviewed medical journals. He is the recipient of the prestigious Paul Kayser scholarship awarded by the Pan American Association of Ophthalmology for Refractive Surgery. He is certified to perform Custom LASIK, Custom Advanced Surface Ablation (Flap free laser vision correction) and is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners. Surgical expertise for Dr. Husain includes all type of Refractive Surgery, Lifestyle Cataract Lens Surgery, and Laser Vision Correction.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Ophthalmology and the National Board of Medical Examiners as well as a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Pan American Association of Ophthalmology, American College of Eye Surgeons, American Medical Association and Iowa Medical Society. He has also achieved the highest level of distinction in his field as a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Dr. Naveen Husain M.D.

Dr. Naveen HusainDr. Naveen Husain graduated with honors from King Edward Medical College in 1991. She was then accepted at the prestigious Cullen Eye Institute at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas for her ophthalmology training. She completed her internship and residency training at Ben Taub General Hospital, Texas Children’s Hospital, St. Lukes Hospital, Veterans Administration Hospital and Methodist Hospital in Houston at the Texas Medical Center. After completing her Ophthalmology residency at the Cullen Eye Institute, she joined the Associated Ophthalmologists P.C. in 1997.

She is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. She is a member of the American Medical Association, Iowa Medical Society and Des Moines Ophthalmology Society. She has authored a number of research articles and publications in peer-reviewed medical journals.

She is certified to perform laser vision correction, cataract surgery, and practices general ophthalmology seeing both adult and pediatric patients.

Dr. Chris Miller O.D.

Dr. Chris MillerDr. Chris Miller is a native of West Des Moines, Iowa where he graduated from Valley High School. He earned his BS in Psychology, with a minor in Biology, from the University of Iowa in 1999. He then graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, Illinois, making Dean’s List 10 quarters as well as being a member of Beta Sigma Kappa Honor Fraternity, and Tomb and Key Honor Fraternity. He had externships in  Vermont, Colorado Springs, Co and Beaufort, SC.

Upon graduation from Optometry College Dr. Miller practiced in the Chicago, Illinois area for three years. In the summer of 2006, he returned to the Des Moines area where he entered private practice with Associated Ophthalmologists, PC.

His many activities include volunteering with the Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Dance Marathon Fundraiser. He also is a member of the  the Contact Lens Society,  Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, the Illinois Optometric Association, and the Iowa Optometric Association.

Chris and his wife, Paige, are the proud parents of three children. They are happy to be back near family.

Chris enjoys practicing in the Des Moines area using his experience and training in contact lenses, glaucoma, dry eye, macular degeneration, diabetic eye exams and routine eye examinations.

Dr. Christopher Diehl O.D., F.A.A.O.

Dr. Christopher Diehl O.D. FAAO

 After completing his Bachelor's Degrees at the University of Iowa, Dr. Christopher Diehl graduated cum laude in 2011 from Illinois College of Optometry (located in Chicago). He completed an ocular disease residency at the Louis B. Stokes VAMC in Cleveland, OH. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry and is ACMO Certified (Advanced Competence in Medical Optometry) by the National Board of Examiners in Optometry. Prior to joining Associated Ophthalmologists, Dr. Diehl practiced in a hospital in Southeast Iowa, where he provided specialized contact lens fittings, pediatric eye care, and advancement management of ocular disease to underserved populations. He is excited to use his training and experience to provide outstanding services and care to the Des Moines community.

His professional interests include primary care, ocular disease, pediatric and binocular vision, specialty and routine contact lens fits, low vision aids, and pre-surgical and post-surgical care. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, the American Academy of Optometry, and the Iowa Optometric Association. 

Dr. Diehl is originally from Ankeny, Iowa. He is happily married to his wife Beth. They have one son and one daughter.
