Dear Dr. Husain:

There is not a day that goes by when I do not suddenly stop at some point and think “I can see clearly with no glasses or contacts.” It is amazing. I am 53 years old and I was suffering vision loss from cataracts. Fortunately for me, and people like me, there is wonderful technology and an outstanding doctor in our area. His name is Dr. S. Ejaz Husain.

Dr. Husain and staff:

It has now been a month or so since my whole world has changed due to the fantastic cataract surgery and ReSTOR lens implant that you did for me. I wake up every morning and marvel at things that I can see.

I was so surprised to find out that I had cataracts. Then Dr. Husain explained to me that I could have cataracts removed and a ReSTOR lens could be implanted if I qualified for it. It would mean that I wouldn’t have to wear glasses for near or distance vision. I jumped at the chance that it would possibly work for me. I was then examined by your “fantastic” staff. Everyone was so nice to me and explained everything so thoroughly.

When I made the decision to go ahead with the ReSTOR lens, I was expecting to come out of it with “okay” vision for distance and very good vision for near. I do a lot of stitching, reading, computer work, etc., so near vision option was my first choice to see clearly.

I checked into the surgery facility in West Des Moines for the first eye surgery about 6 weeks ago. I felt very comfortable with everyone there. They explained what would be happening step by step. Then Dr. Husain came in and took my hand and just reassured me of the process again. After some drops and a small amount of anesthesia to help me relax, we were ready for the surgery. In minutes Dr. Husain came in and started his MAGIC! I remember lying there thinking “okay, now I have to just relax here for a little while till he is done”. No sooner than I thought that-WOW- he was done! I was shocked how painless and fast it was. I was taken to the recovery room where I sat until the staff was sure I was okay to leave. Dr. Husain came in again to see me and to say that surgery went well and he would see me the next morning. As I was sitting at home that night, the phone rang. It was Dr. Husain just calling to see how I was doing. Now I am really impressed.

I went back to Des Moines the next morning for a routine check. What happened next nearly knocked my socks off. When the nurse took me in for my check, she covered my left eye to see what I could read on the eye chart with the eye that had surgery the day before. Believe it or not, I could read the bottom line! I knew it was really good when Dr. Husain came in and gave me the high-five sign.

My other eye was done two weeks after the first and I am enjoying the same success as the earlier surgery. You are all a great team!
I am so grateful to all of the doctors and staff of Dr. Husain’s office. They all treat you like they really do care about the patient.

I am excited and will refer any of my friends or anyone else to this practice. You are all great and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for my sight.

Dear Dr. Husain:

I have been a patient of yours for the past several years and each year as I get older I find my eye glass prescription getting stronger. This past appointment you suggested that because of my vision I should consider removing the cataracts and I should consider having an implant to improve my vision. I have been wearing glasses for the past 25 years and I never liked the idea of glasses. I considered it and made the decision to have the cataracts removed and at the same time have the ReSTOR implant inserted. I was concerned about having my eyes operated on, but I was reassured by you and my friends that I have nothing to worry about.

It has now been 8 weeks since I had the cataracts removed and the ReSTOR implant. My eyes are 20/20 for reading and 20/20 for distance without the aid of glasses. This has truly changed my life. I no longer need glasses for anything and I no longer run around the house looking for my glasses. It is a pleasure to wear regular sunglasses and pick up the menu in a restaurant without fumbling for my glasses.

You were correct in saying it would change my life and the operation was uneventful without any pain or discomfort. I would do this operation again in a heartbeat.

I now can see better than my 40 year old children.

I want to compliment you on the services that you and your staff provided me while I was considering and decided to have the ReSTOR lens.

I was totally amazed at how well I could see after just one day…a big surprise when I went to use my computer. I had been warned that I might have to get used to looking at the computer…since the day after the second eye was done…I have been able to sit back in my chair and read everything on my computer.

Before I came to see you about the ReSTOR lens, I was also visiting with a plastic surgeon to possibly have my droopy eyelids lifted. I have had a very unexpected outcome…my family and several friends have commented on how I no longer squint and my eyes are so wide open. Looking in the mirror…I think I can forgo the eyelid surgery. I didn’t know that I would be a candidate for this lens since I have…or had…astigmatism and small pupils.

What a wonderful thing to know that I will not need glasses for the rest of my life…nor will I need to spend money on them!

I want to officially thank you for your professional expertise and personal interest during and following the cataract surgery on both of my eyes in the past four/five months.

I have never had a surgery that was so painless. Not one bit of pain before, during or subsequent to the surgeries. That is truly amazing. The most difficult part of the experience was “getting the courage” to administer the eye drops myself and without the services of another.

After thirty-three years of wearing glasses I had cataract surgery. After consulting with Dr. Husain, I chose the ReSTOR lens to replace my natural lens. As soon as surgery was over I could read the clock on the wall in the surgical room and my eyesight gets better every day. The colors are now vivid and I can see to read with no problem. My wife said I acted like a little kid just learning to read for the first time. While we were traveling I read every sign and described the vivid colors of objects to her. I just want to let you know how extremely happy I am with my cataract surgery and my ReSTOR lens implants. It has been four weeks now since my second eye was done. You told me that I wouldn’t be happy after my first eye was done, but after the second one I would see the difference and you were right.

My vision gets better every day! I’m not using reading glasses or anything. And there’s an unexpected bonus! The other day I was walking out of a store with my daughter and it was raining. I was so excited because I just realized how nice it was not to have to worry about rain spotting my glasses. Its little things like that and the fact that I don’t have to reach for my glasses the minute I wake up. I am so thankful to you for your excellent work. Dear Dr. Husain:

I came to Dr. Husain’s office for a consultation regarding cataract surgery. Dr. Husain suggested that I could possibly be a candidate for a cataract surgery using the ReSTOR lens. He explained that the ReSTOR lens was different from the conventional cataract replacement lens, since not only did it correct distant vision but near as well. I was interested and after several tests by Dr. Husain and his technicians, I was found to be a good candidate for the surgery.
Both surgeries went smoothly with no complications.

It has been over five months now since my surgeries and I am very pleased with the outcome. I no longer am dependant on glasses or contact lenses for everyday life. My distance vision is crisp and my near vision is very good. I can read the paper and the phone book once again without glasses. I do still use a pair of magnifiers on occasion for very fine work.

Dr. Husain, the technicians and receptionist were very pleasant to work with. They were excellent at explaining and answering questions or concerns I had along the way. The surgical staff was also great.

I would certainly recommend Dr. Husain and this procedure to anyone who is fortunate enough to be a candidate.
