Refractive Lens Information
Refractive Lens Exchange
Associated Ophthalmologists is pleased to offer the FDA approved Intraocular Lens procedure, also known as Refractive Lensectomy or Refractive Lens Extraction.
A Refractive Lensectomy involves the insertion of a lens implant into the eye, much like those used in cataract surgeries. This intraocular lens, or IOL, has the ability to "accommodate" or change shape, allowing it to focus on objects at all distances.
So far, visual results to-date have been excellent, with few side effects or complications. Patients who are not eligible (or not candidates) for any of the other types of refractive surgical procedures may be great candidates for a Refractive Lensectomy.
At Associated Ophthalmologists we believe financial considerations should not be an obstacle. We are sensitive to the fact that different people have different needs in fulfilling their financial obligations.
Our goal is to make your surgery affordable for any budget.
Am I a Candidate?
Refractive Lens Exchange is a surgical eye procedure that needs careful consideration by both a patient and a skilled ophthalmologist.
Refractive Lens Implants can be a great idea for various types of patients. For example, if you are very nearsighted the Visian ICL maybe an excellent alternative to LASIK eye surgery. If you are over the age of 45 and are seeking a glasses free experience without monovision perhaps a multifocal IOL would be a good choice.
The most important element to determining the right procedure for your eyes is to have a thorough eye exam and consult directly with one of our doctors.
