Dr. Jeffrey Newland was born and raised in Des Moines and attended Roosevelt High School. He went on to attend the University of Iowa where he received his undergraduate degree in Health and Human Physiology. He then received his Doctor of Optometry degree and Bachelor of Science degree in Vision Science from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
While in school, Dr. Newland completed clinical rotations at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Gainesville, FL and at Aran Eye Associates in Miami, FL, a practice focusing on surgical and ocular disease management. Dr. Newland was also involved in numerous medical mission trips to different regions of Jamaica.
Dr. Newland is an active member in the Iowa Optometric Association, the Florida Optometric Association, the Contact Lens and Cornea Section, Scleral Lens Society, the American Academy of Orthokeratology and Myopia Control, the American Optometric Association, and Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity.
His clinical interests include ocular disease diagnosis and management, dry eye disease, primary eye care, geriatrics, pediatrics, myopia control, and specialty contact lens fitting.
Outside of the exam room, Jeffrey is an avid sports fan who enjoys spending time with family and friends, biking, skiing, and traveling the world.
Jeffrey is extremely excited to have returned to Des Moines and provide quality care to the community.
